Grimbergen was founded in 1128, and the Grimbergen Abbey has been destroyed by fire 3 times - each time rising again from the ashes, hence the Phoenix being chosen as its symbol. This ability to be reborn time and time again makes Grimbergen beer, a beer of legend.
