Carlsberg UK Snap Pack wins best innovation in packaging at Footprint Drinks Sustainability Awards.
Leaders in sustainability from across the drinks industry gathered at the inaugural Footprint Drinks Sustainability Awards on 11th September, hosted at the Royal Institute of British Architects in London. The Awards identify and celebrate the businesses at the forefront of sustainability, and are set to become a barometer for sustainability and responsible business practice across the industry.
Carlsberg UK was awarded the best innovation in packaging for its Snap Pack – cans without plastic rings. The judges said:
“This is a really strong example of Innovation in packaging… Not only does it work well from a sustainability perspective it also lends itself to displaying the product in a really compelling way that Carlsberg have exploited very nicely indeed… Outside of the snap pack it is clear that other areas are being updated and researched further when it comes to the long term sustainability of the business and the overall environmental impact.”
There was incredible competition across every category, and we’re proud to be joint winners with Garçon Wines. Congratulations also to Lucozade Ribena Suntory for being highly commended, along with all other winners and runners up of the night.
Pete Statham, Sustainability Manager, Carlsberg UK, said:
“Snap Pack is a breakthrough in drinks packaging, and we’re proud of this recognition. As an industry, we face significant challenges from climate change, resource scarcity and public health. It’s inspiring to see significant progress across from businesses large and small, all working towards a better tomorrow. We’re really pleased to be in such good company.”
