Carlsberg Group announces a change in leadership for Carlsberg UK with the appointment of Julian Momen as CEO.
Momen has been Chief Financial Officer for Carlsberg UK since September 2012 and has played a key role in the development of its new strategy. With 30 years’ experience in the food and drinks industry; over half of which was spent with Diageo, followed by time at General Mills, RHM Adelie and now Carlsberg, Momen will continue to implement the transformation changes introduced by interim CEO Michiel J. Herkemij.
Having introduced a new direction for the Carlsberg UK business, Herkemij will now become
Senior Vice President for the Western Europe region and become a member of Carlsberg’s executive committee, succeeding Jørn Tolstrup Rohde. Herkemij brings extensive international experience from leading companies across Europe, Asia, Africa and the American region.
Herkemij initiated a transformation process in October 2015, with the introduction of a new strategy working very closely with Momen. Momen’s appointment as UK CEO ensures continuity in the implementation of the new strategy. Both men will continue to work together closely as Herkemij remains responsible for Carlsberg UK in his new role.
Carlsberg CEO Cees ‘t Hart says: “We wish Michiel Herkemij and Julian Momen all the best and every success for their new, challenging assignments, and would like to thank them for their great engagement and achievements in their current roles. To Jørn Tolstrup Rohde, we extend our sincere appreciation for his contribution to the Carlsberg executive committee and the Group, and the professional way he has handled the leadership of the Western Europe region. We wish him success in his further professional and personal future.”
Herkemij says: “I am very pleased to join Carlsberg’s executive committee as Senior Vice President for Western Europe. Carlsberg is in a very interesting phase, and I am sure the coming years will be very exciting. Western Europe remains Carlsberg’s home field, and I look forward to working closer with the great people in the region to deliver continued strong results.”
On his appointment as UK CEO, Momen commented: “Michiel has started that new direction of greater value and brand focus, and I am delighted to be able to continue the exciting, challenging journey on which we embark.”
The search for a new CFO for Carlsberg UK will start immediately.
