Our leadership

Our executive committee brings a wealth of leadership and drinks industry experience to the helm. It’s their job to guide Carlsberg UK as a business – and as a beacon of premium brewing excellence.

Julian Momen

Julian Momen

Chief executive officer (CEO), since 2016.

Julian joined Carlsberg UK in 2012 as chief financial officer, leading the finance and business support team for four years before being made chief executive officer in March 2016. Before Carlsberg UK, Julian was group finance director of Adelie, a private equity backed food company. Julian began his career with Diageo in 1985 and worked in various finance roles within General Mills through to 2004, eight years of which were as finance director.

Alistair Gaunt

Alistair Gaunt

Vice president, nationals business unit, since March 2017.

Alistair joined Carlsberg UK in March 2017 from Premier Foods, where he was sales director, responsible for a cross-functional team comprising sales, category development and value management. Prior to this, he spent 14 years at Cadbury; latterly in a number of customer sales roles and also leading the customer marketing team, where he drove development of the confectionery category strategy for the total UK organisation.

Bruce Ray

Bruce Ray

Vice president of corporate affairs and independent on trade (interim), since 2012.

Bruce was appointed as Vice president independent on trade (interim) in December 2017, in addition to overseeing UK corporate affairs. He was previously Vice president of global government relations and UK corporate affairs, since joining the business in 2012. Prior to Carlsberg UK, he notched up 18 years at Bacardi Brown-Forman Brands, where he held senior roles in sales, marketing and corporate affairs. Bruce sits on a number of industry bodies, including chairing key panels in the British Beer & Pub association.

 

Liam Newton

Liam Newton

Vice president, marketing, since 2016.

Before joining us in May 2016, Liam led a number of major branding projects for clients at global agency Landor. He’s also worked on the client-side: at Bacardi Brown-Forman, as marketing director, overseeing the growth of Grey Goose and Bombay Sapphire; at ABInBev, leading the charge on Stella Artois and the integration of Beck’s beer; and at confectionary giant Nestle Rowntree, clocking up six years in the marketing team.

Peter Hammond

Peter Hammond

Vice president, production, since 2016.

Pete is one of just a handful of people to have won the JS Hough award, an accolade he received having completed his IBD (Institute of Brewing and Distillers) Master Brewer qualification in 2010. Since joining Carlsberg in 2011, and as former head of brewing & processing, Pete has guided the ongoing development of Carlsberg UK’s production as a world-class operation, and has been at the forefront of sharing best-practice across the Group. Before coming to us, he spent ten years at ABInBev.

Paul Armstrong

Paul Armstrong

Vice president, customer supply chain, since 2016. 

Before joining us in January 2016, Paul was European beer supply director for Diageo in Ireland. With more than 37 years’ experience in management roles, he has overseen a diversity of business activities spanning engineering, project management, operations management, quality control, brewing and the supply chain. 

Adam Stubbs

Vice president, finance, since April 2018.

Adam joined Carlsberg UK as the new Vice President Finance in April 2018 from Tate & Lyle PLC where he was Divisional Finance Director. Adam has held a number of senior finance roles at Youngs Seafood and Cadbury’s.
